First up was Queensland on 23rd July, which was played at the picturesque Arundel Hills Country Club on a warm winter’s day. Arundel Hills was in excellent condition considering there has
been so much rain prior to the event. We had a great turn out with 22; 2IC’sregistering for the challenge. Special thanks to Superintendent, Luke Mortimer for presenting the course in
fantastic condition, and joining us for lunch afterwards.

Congratulations to Jay Bramich from Palmer Gold Coast and Michael Todd from Royal Queensland who will be taking off to Barnbougle Dunes for the final in September.
Jay won with an impressive 35 points, with Michael coming second on a count back with 31 points from fellow 2IC at Royal Queensland, Adam Mills.

Glenn Gibson-Smith from Sanctuary Cove took out both NTP’s and The Longest Drive on the day. Chris Mitchell from Lakelands took out the coveted NAGA award for the day,
can’t win em all Chris.

We would like to make special mention of Brad Beetson from Headland Golf Club. Brad has attended all 8 David Golf Challenges and only ever walked away with some great mates and of course an enjoyable round of golf. Thank you for your support over the past 8 years Brad. Hope to see you again next year.

New South Wales was played on Monday 29th July and was held at the prestigious Pymble Golf Club. The result could not have been closer with 3 players finishing on 34 points and involved in a count back. Congratulations to Dave Rayner from Roseville Golf Club who finished first and David Hurst from Cromer Golf Club coming in 2nd place. Commiserations to Steve Mallyon from The Lakes who unluckily come third.

It was great to see a mix of winners throughout the course with NTP and longest drives.
NTP - 8th Hole, Jarrod Arps from Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club, NTP - 15th Hole, Andrew Parkinson from Belmont Golf Club, Longest Drive went to Chris Neville from Lane Cove Country Club and of course we can’t forget Jon Allan from Randwick Golf Club took out the NAGA this year. Special thanks to Superintendent, Robert Neuseld for having Pymble in such terrific condition for the day.

South Australia was also played on Monday 29th July on a cold drizzly morning at The Grange Golf Club. There was only a small contingent of 2IC’s at SA’s challenge this year, and we appreciate the effort to come out and play on a terrific golf course. Thanks to Superintendent, Richard James for looking after us so well and joining us for lunch afterwards.

Congratulations to Simon Work from Mt Osmond who had an excellent 36 points and streaked the field with Rowan Daymond from The Grange second.  Simon also took out the NTP on the 8th hole, with Hayden Reid from Flagstaff Hill winning the NTP on the 14th hole. And of course an honourable mention to Adam Fry from Kooyonga in winning the NAGA for the second time back to back…well done Adam!

Western Australia was played on Tuesday 30th July and delivered another sunny day at Lake Karrinyup Country Club, with a 1pm tee off it was a great way for the 2IC’s to spend an afternoon.
The WA event is played on the short course at Lake Karrinyup over 9 holes, so you have to be a quick starter to have a show.
Jason Kelly from Royal Fremantle Golf Club proved just that with an impressive 22 points just knocking off Josh Evans from Araluen on 21 points. Jason has a big trip ahead of him in September heading off to Tassie.

Others winners on the day were NTP – 4th hole Ben Gerovitch from Sea View and NTP – 9th hole Chris Langsford from Mt Lawley. And not to mention Reece Spedding from Nedlands winning the NAGA. Reece was a little disappointed as he had taken the morning off to practice for the event. Better luck next year Reece.
Thank you to Superintendent, Trevor Strahan for coming out and supporting the day.

The Victorian 2IC challenge kicked off to an earlier than normal start with an impressive number of 36 2IC’s teeing off for the day at Cranbourne Golf Club. The rain stayed away until the day came to a close.

This was a tough one to win with so many players, but Tim Leat from Rich River Golf Club came out on top with a fantastic score of 39 points from Shaun Lehane with 36 points from Keysborough Golf Club. We look forward to seeing Tim and Shaun down at Barnbougle Dunes in September with the other winners.

NTP on the 3rd Hole, went to Tim Leat, the 14th Hole was won by James Newell from Woodlands Golf Club, whilst Tim Kuiper from Mooroopna Golf Club took out the Longest Drive for the day.
The NAGA award went to Peter Brabender from Heidelberg Golf Club. Thank you to Superintendent, Barry Proctor for presenting the course in such fantastic condition.
