8th 2IC State of Origin Final 2013

Sep 6, 2013

3 & 4 September 2013 - Barnbougle Dunes
The David Golf 2IC final was played on a beautiful sunny calm day on Tuesday 3rd September.

With Barnbougle having a reputation
for providing challenging conditions, the boys could not
have been luckier in having perfect conditions to play in.
NSW was under pressure as they are yet to win the 2IC final in the eight years of the event. Similar to the league state of origin, with the blues unable to win a series against the maroons over the last eight years.
Most of the boys were in good form and with the course and conditions being perfect it bought the best out of them.

The final is played as aggregate stableford with the boys from Qld being far too strong with Jay Bramich (Palmer Gold Coast) and Ryan Felsch (Arundel Hills) winning the State of Origin Final for the third time. It must have been the thongs they both rocked up in.
Easy to pick the Queenslanders, not many people wear thongs in Tassie in September!

- Qld - Jay Bramich (Palmer Gold Coast) & Ryan Felsch (Arundel Hills) - 71 points.
2nd - Vic - Tim Leat (Rich River) & Shaun Lehane (Keysborough) - 68 points.
3rd - SA/WA - Simon Work (Mt Osmond) & Jason Kelly (Royal Fremantle) - 66 points.
4th - NSW - Stephen Mallyon (The Lakes) & Dave Rayner (Roseville) - 62 points.

Congratulations to Jay and Ryan, who both receive a $1,000.00 credit to their clubs to spend on David Golf equipment.

We also hold an individual event in conjunction with the teams event.

Individual Winners:
: Jay Bramich (Palmer Gold Coast) - 43 points (count back)
2nd: Stephen Mallyon (The Lakes) - 43 points
3rd: Shaun Lehane (Keysborough) - 39 points.

NTP-7th hole: Stephen Mallyon (The Lakes)
NTP-13th hole: Tim Leat (Rich River)
Shot of the day: Shaun Lehane (Keysborough) holed a lovely pitch shot on 10.
NAGA: Dave Rayner (Roseville). Dave struggled a little with the bunkers and the rough, but still managed to enjoy it.

It was a great effort from Dave as his mother passed away just before the trip and he still made the effort to come down. Our thoughts are with Dave and his family.
We spent the night in the cabins at the dunes and all the boys had the privilege of playing Lost Farm the next morning before heading back home.

I'm sure everyone had a great time with good friendships developed.

There were 102 entrants in this year’s qualifying rounds. David Golf is proud that we can provide an opportunity for 2IC's around the country to meet each other and develop a network. With the 2Ic's being the future of the industry it becomes a very important part of their growth in the industry.

Thank you to everyone who played and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
